Tula: 15 April

Doors 7:30pm with Colour DJs and live visuals.

In the old Swedish language, the word ‘tula’ means to wander far into the forest and Tula certainly lives up to her namesake, crafting rustic and grainy folk-inspired songs that are deeply evocative of the wilderness of her home nation. There’s a rich yet melancholy feel to her music which harks back to idyllic landscapes and the enchanting beauty of nature.

Plaintive yet poignant, her debut 7″ single on acclaimed Birmingham label Static Caravan unites two stunning vignettes that are mesmerising in their intricate yet hushed beauty. Sure to appeal to anyone who has been taken by the work of Alela Diane, Laura Marling or Elliott Smith.

Timothy Parkes

Currently dwelling in the rural outreaches of the Black Country, Timothy may be one man and a guitar but his music is at once intricate and powerful. His sound is much more than the sum of its parts due to a heady dose of otherwordly mystery. Championed by Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff, he has most recently contributed to Hunt’s Shared project, which showcases emerging acoustic talent. Timothy also plays with Colour favourites July Skies.

The visuals for this show were edited together from various American home movies from the 1940s to the late 1970s. Mostly shot on Super 8 and chosen because they featured woodland and coastal scenes and a rich colour palette.
