Stuart Maconie’s Favourite Things

Stuart Maconie
is one of the finest music broadcasters/ DJs we have right now. His ebullient passion for good music new and old has seen him carry on John Peel’s legacy of genuine personality and eclecticism. In particular, his 6Music show Freak Zone, which brings strange sounds to Sunday nights has a hand-picked feel which stands apart in the recycled press release music culture of today.¬† I would also recommend his easy going music memoir Cider with Roadies, a wonderful, winding tale of a life spent in love with music.

On Saturday 11 September, Maconie will be the guest at Ikon gallery’s ongoing These Are A Few Of My Favourite Things series of talks inspired by Desert Island Discs. He’ll select eight favourite works of art and talk about the influence they’ve had on him. Call Ikon on 0121 248 0708 to a reserve a free place.

Ikon, 1 Oozells Square, Brindleyplace, Birmingham B1 2HS
