Saturday’s Colour at Light House was one of the most satisfying events we’ve put on so far. Many thanks to everyone who came along. Despite the November cold encroaching on the courtyard, Lime Chalks’ opening set bought immediate warmth to the space with their lovely three-part harmonies and lo-fi folk.
Epic45’s music is more breathtaking each time I see them perform. This set saw them employing sample loops and beats to a greater degree, which formed the backbone of their sound and complimented their haunting guitar lines. They are currently fleshing out songs for their new album which should be available next Summer – we’ll keep you informed about it’s progress. They have been supportive of Colour since its inception over two years ago and it’s a real privilege to continue working with them.
Special thanks go to our sonic wizard and frequent saviour Paul Manasseh and Light House’s own Sam Clare who always bends over backwards to help us.
The Flip party was our final event of 2008 at Light House, but we hope to return there at some point in 2009. Our next event is The Americana Sessions on 11 December at Alchemy in Wolverhampton, which will feature a host of amazing artists, some new visual projections, DJ sets, Tex-Mex nibbles and mince pies! After all, nothing says Christmas like an evocation of America’s dustier regions.
Looking further down the line, we’re looking to put on even bigger events at new venues, possibly in Birmingham. We’re also really excited about this site and plan to expand it with new contributors and a new design over the next few months. If you would like to make any suggestions or put yourself forward as a contributor, please email us at colourpromo[at]gmail[dot]com.
