Feelgood French Friday Roundup Part Deux

Last week Katie posted some great Herman Dune music videos. Here’s three more examples of Gallic genius for your enjoyment.

Lucas – Lucas with the Lid Off (Dir. Michel Gondry, 1994)
Because nothing says Friday like upbeat whiteboy hip hop. The video is a typically brilliant DIY effort from Gondry, all filmed in one take.

Oui Oui – La Cailloux (Dir. Michel Gondry, 1989)
No idea what the song is about, but the video pretty much sums up human behaviour since the year dot, all in three minutes and with early ’80s-style children’s animation to boot.

Phoenix – Too Young (Dir. Steve Hanft, 2000)
As well as being purveyors of catchy indie-pop, Phoenix are known for being well turned out gentlemen. So it’s amusing to see them dressed as fishmongers in this video.

I would highly recommend picking up Michel Gondry’s Director’s Label DVD, which features more fantastic, mind-boggling music videos than you could shake a large bread stick at.
