I’m pleased to announce the lineup for the first event we’re hosting at Light House, Wolverhampton. Expect to see us there every first Saturday of the month with the usual unusual mix of live independent music, DJ sets and other niceness.
Saturday 5th July:

with support from Ben Calvert + Richard Burke & Colour DJs
Lock Works Bar, Light House, Wolverhampton
8PM till late // Free entry // Giveaways + Cakes
About the Artists
With sweet, fragile vocals reminiscent of Will Oldham at his cheeriest and a gentle touch when it comes to his folk and country arrangements, James’ music is more at home on a Midwest American porch than sleepy Sutton Coldfield.
After a couple of releases with Buick 6 (later The Toques) and two Peel sessions, James put out his self-produced Hailah, Hailah. His third album, Count to Ten and Start Again is released in August 2008.
Victoria and Jacob
This Cambridge-based duo are definitely one to watch. Upbeat laptop-pop overlaid with glockenspiel and guitar perfectly compliment Victoria’s delicate but feisty vocals. Their single ‘Clash’, from the Super Computer EP, has received airplay on BBC 6Music and we wouldn’t be surprised if big things lie ahead for them.
One of Birmingham’s finest singer-songwriters graces Colour once again with his intricate indie pop. His new record The Broken Family DaySaver Tour is out now, filled with songs about “forest lynchings, seaside jaunts, day trips and impossible summers”.
Rounding out the Bearos Records artists for this event is Richard Burke, an artist who in his own words, tries to “fuse my love of uncompromising, underground punk rock/indie with a more melodic and lyrical loveliness”. Richard’s laid-back folk is certainly easy to admire.
About Lock Works
Continuing our love of small, independent venues, Lock Works café bar is part of the Light House cinema and media centre based in the historic Chubb Locks Building. An intimate setting that opens out onto a spectacular covered courtyard area, it’s the perfect Summer evening backdrop for our artists.
For more information, visit the Light House official site.
We play an eclectic mix of leftfield indie, electronica, folk, Americana and everything that falls between.
