dyw un iaith byth yn ddigon

I love getting excited over something i hear on the radio whist cooking tea, having to remember a lyric and googling it to see who it is. I did this today after hearing an amazing track by Cate Le Bon called Hwylio Mewn Cyfog (please dont ask me to pronounce / translate it). She is the new blood in the Welsh camp consisting of the likes of Super Furry Animals and Gorky’s.

She is currently touring with Neon Neon (Gruff Rhys & Boom Bip’s concept band themed around the life of John Delorean, yep the guy who made that car in Back to the Future). Her vocals are sampled on the synthtastic I Lust U and are a leap away from her solo work which are deeply rooted in indie-folk sensibilities, with an addictive toe tapping beat.

She sounds like an artist on her 3rd Album but suprisingly she hasnt released her first single yet. I spent last summer dancing round my living room to Euros Childs – The Miracle Inn and it looks like i might be going all Welsh again when Cate’s album comes out.

Here are some free MP3’s:
No one can drag me down. MP3
Disappear. MP3

Let me know what you think, and we might try and book her for Colour.
